Itching Ears
Series: 2 timothy Topic: Sound Doctrine Scripture: 2 Timothy 4:3-4, 1 Timothy 1:4
The problem that was prevalent in the church at Ephesus during the time of Timothy's ministry, is still prevalent today in the modern Church. Paul wanted Timothy to know that preaching the Word is a struggle to get people to accept the truth. There is a present day problem where churches and preachers have moved away from sound or healthy doctrine to other things that people swarm to. They want to tickle the ears of those seeker sensitive people that walk through the doors. We live in stressful days and people are seeking means to alleviate their pain, but not through the Word of God that can challenge and strengthen them. They prefer their lusts to be fulfilled and their ears itched or tickled. We live to please God and not to tickle ears.
