Perilous Times Will Come (2)

We live in a world that loves itself and has in turn through false teachers and thoughtless sin have seen it enter into our churches.  We see it with the disdain for sermons on sin, seeker friendly services and such things as the attraction to the prosperity gospel.  Ephesus had a modern twist to it with its materialistic ways and being told that they lost their first love in Revelation 2.  The problem with a predominant desire on so many to indulge ourselves continually is that it moves us away from the Lord and His Word.  Self-love feeds the rest of the sins in this passage from pride and arrogance, to contempt for others and rebellious children.  It produces a thankless generation that is filled with irreverence, heartless people that are unforgiving slanderers without self-control.
