Characteristics Of A Pastor Pt. 6
Maturity is a big issue in the spiritual life and even more so when it comes to the pastor of a church. One of the words used for a pastor is that he is to be an elder, which focuses particularly on his spiritual maturity. This passage reminds us that a pastor should not be newly saved which is indicative of his spiritual maturity so that he might not fall in the trappings of the devil. The devil seeks to do harm to the church and can often use the pastor if he is not armed for the task in his spiritual life. The devil will seek to tempt pastors and often lead the less mature into pride.
