Righteousness of Christ
Christ is righteous and we are not. The Lord Jesus was put under the microscope of showing that only He can defeat sin by being put in a humanly weakened position of being without food for forty days and being in a wilderness without human necessities. The devil tried to tempt Jesus by acting outside of the will of God and to act on His human needs. Satan desperately wantted to get Jesus to worship him and to fail in His journey of going to the cross. Jesus proved through Satan's temptations that He could defeat sin not only for Himself, but for us.
Primary Scripture: Luke 3:21-22; 4:1-13.
