Humanly speaking Paul endured an enormous amount of traumatic challenges. He went through a ritual cleansing, Jewish mob snatched him and beat him, arrested by the Romans, delivered a speech to the angry mob, and now faced the Sanhedrin. It is much like the flesh to have an angry retort when he was punched. But, he showed great wisdom in turning the tables on the Sanhedrin with his response on the resurrection creating friction between the Pharisees and Sadducees.
