Peter reminds the reader that the Day of the Lord is one of judgment and that it will cause the universe to dissolve. Isaiah tells us that the universe will roll up like a scroll. The Day of the Lord has a two-fold judgment, first when the Lord Jesus returns at His 2nd Coming and then again at the end of the Millennium when the universe will dissolve and there will be a new heaven and a new earth. We are told it will come like a thief in the night and it will be loud and fiery. But, we also recognize that it should remind us to live godly lives and to look forward to the consummation of the Lord's plan that include the glories of heaven..
