Reminders OF God's Promise

God always keeps His promises and He is always righteously just with what He says and does.  This includes the promise of His Second Coming and a future judgment on all those that reject the Lord Jesus.  In our passage we are reminded that in multiple passages in the Bible God promises to return and also to judge the earth by fire.  There has historically been and continues to be antagonism toward both Christ's return and any thoughts of God judging the earth.  The lost have willfully ignored the Flood and contentiously object against it and see the same with the Lord's Second Coming and judgment on them.  Meanwhile the Lord is patiently waiting for the last of His people to be saved and has no pleasure in seeing the lost perish.
