Lydia is one of the many fascinating women from the Bible. She was a godly Jewish woman that worshiped the living God. Paul came to her and other women down by the riverside where they met to pray. There were no men and there was no synagogue because of the absence of men that worshiped God. Paul and Silas came and gave these women the gospel of Jesus Christ and Lydia was saved. She is known as the first convert of Christ in Europe. We are reminded again of the importance of women in this passage and how God uses them in a great way for His glory. This was the start of the church at Philippi.
