Philip was moved by God to go from Samaria to a desert road in Gaza to meet up with an Ethiopian treasurer from the courts of Candace. The ethiopian is reading a Bible from Isaiah 53 and Philip was divinely brought to him by the sovereignty of God for this divine encounter. We are reminded in this passage how important even one soul is and that this may have been the first Gentile saved. Philip opened the scriptures and preached to him Jesus Christ and he was saved. The Ethiopian immediately showed evidence of his salvation by his obedience in wanting to be immersed.
