Trading In Our Christian Freedom
I recall reading in Church History of the monastic Simon Styletes who attempted to find holiness by sitting on a pillar for some lengthy period of time thinking that this deprivation would accomplish this task. Our freedom as Christians is always found in the Head, the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the one that releases us from our sin and sets us free. It can't be done by false appeals by those heretics that attempt to falsely teach legalism, mysticism and self deprivation as means to find freedom and holiness in God. Christians are bonded in Christ and we find all we need spiritually in Him.
Primary Scripture: Colossians 2:16-23
