Famine In Hearing The Word
Series: Special Message Topic: God's Word Scripture: Amos 8:11-12
In the book of Amos, God called Amos to prophecy to the people that though they were living in relative prosperity that judgment and exile was about to come. Part of the judgment would be a famine in hearing the Word of God. The analogy is that we live in a time when people have many Bibles but seem to not be very interested in reading it or hearing it preached or taught. Many today have forgotten the importance of the Word of God and many are being led down the road to those that tickle their ears with half-truths, watered down scripture and plain lies bathed in the name of God.
