The Triumphal Entry of the Lord Jesus is often misunderstood because of confusion in what Jesus did and the response of the crowd. Jesus fulfilled prophecy and presented Himself as the Lamb of God, the Savior who saves from sin. It was Passover week and tens of thousands of Jews came to celebrate in Jerusalem. The crowd was there and so were the enemies. Jesus came to Jerusalem to go to the cross and to fire up His enemies to seek to put Him to death. The crowd wanted a king that would bring social and political blessing to Israel and not salvation through the Messiah. Sadly they soon would change their praise to Jesus to crucify Him. The Divine judgment of God on Israel's rejection would be the very stones crying out as the Temple and Jerusalem would be destroyed.
Primary Scripture: Luke 19:29-44
