Life, Death and Eternity

Series: Luke Topic: Life, Death and eternity Scripture: Luke 16:19-31, Luke 12:4-5, Hebrews 9:27, Romans 6:23, Hebrews 2:14-15, Philippians 1:23, Matthew 19:23-25, 1 Corinthians 15:19

The great account of the "Rich man and Lazarus" is no doubt the scariest and perhaps one of the most memorable of all of Jesus' parables.  It is an account of an incredibly wealthy man and contrasted by the strikingly sad impoverished and challenged life of Lazarus.  The account shares their death with the shock of Lazarus going to Abraham's bosom, that is heaven and being next to Abraham.  The rich man meanwhile goes to hell which to the Jewish culture of that day would be outrageous, since wealth would be considered a God blessed life and poverty meaning you're cursed.  This is a reminder that we all face death.  It is the biggest fear on most people's list.  But, for the saved person there is a reminder that death is just sleep and we are immediately in the presence of Christ, Phil.1:21-23.

Primary Scripture: Luke 16:19-31
