Rejecting Christ

Series: Luke Topic: Salvation Scripture: Luke 14:15-24, Matthew 12:30

The topic the Lord Jesus was discussing was, who would come to dine in His Kingdom?  The greatest invitation is offered in this parable of the Lord that tells the reader who would come into His Glory.  Jesus spoke of a great and wealthy man giving out an invitation to this great event.  The parable proceeds to show that the invitees make excuses for why they cannot attend.  This is a direct rejection of the one that invited them.  The idea is that these people are rejecting Christ Himself, they believe that they can earn the Kingdom by their own human achievement.  The parable then tells the reader that the great man invites those who are poor and needy to come.  These are all of us that know we are spiritually bankrupt without Christ and He is our only means of entering His glory.
