Jesus came into the home of friends that were siblings, Martha, Mary and Lazarus. They were believers in the Lord and offered Him hospitality. Jesus did what He always did, He taught people wherever He went. This passage reminds us of what is important in life. There are temporary things in this world that can easily distract us like it did Martha in this passage. Her priorities got twisted because she was too distracted to listen to Jesus teach the eternal truths of God. Mary chose right in that she sat with rapt attention at the feet of Jesus to catch every word. In a busy and distracted day, Christians need to be reminded of what is important.
