Marks of False Teachers
Series: 1 Timothy Topic: False Teachers Scripture: 1 Timothy 6:3-5, Colossians 1:28, 1 Thessalonians 5:14, John 8:44, 1 Timothy 1:3-4, 1 Timothy 1:19-20, Jude 1:8-13, Jude 1:16-19
Since there were false teachers in the church at Ephesus, Timothy was warned by Paul to look out for certain marks of these corrupt leaders. It was up to Timothy to warn the church, much as modern pastors must continue to warn their people of false teachers. It is not having a negative ministry, it is protecting the flock so they will not be misled. One mark of a false teacher is they are characterized by their lies. Another mark of a false teacher is they are proud and know nothing. One more mark is that they are characterized by being argumentative and corrupt, even doing their work for the purpose of financial exploitation.
