Characteristics Of A Deacon

Charactistics of a Deacon
Being familiar with our Baptist churches, it seems there is often differing views on the function of a deacon. In some churches the deacons have little responsibilities except to do physical tasks or prepare the Lord's Table. In other churches they seem to be the ruling body in the church often dictating to the pastor how he is to minister. The Bible is always our guide in how we glorify the Lord in conducting the church. The characteristics of a deacon are clear in the passage from 1 Timothy. It reminds us that the deacon is to serve the Lord with godliness and with the spirit of faithfulness in seeking the good of the church.
