GREAT TRUTHS OF THE CRUCIFIXION

We are reminded in this passage of the importance of the substitutionary work of Christ on the cross of Calvary.  In Matthew's account we see the darkness that comes over the earth that reminds us not only of the sadness, but the judgment of our sins on the cross.  We see the intensity of Christ crying out to the Father when the Son bore our sins on the cross.  We see the supernatural events that took place with the darkness, the veil of the Temple being torn and the presence of Christ being open to the saved.  We see a huge earthquake and graves being open with the OT saints rising out of them.  Finally the blessing of the Centurion being saved.
