Rejecting Christ And His Salvation
Jesus went back to Galilee to His hometown of Nazareth to teach in the Synagogue of His youth. Teaching from Isaiah 61, Jesus presents Himself as the Messiah that has come to give salvation to those who repent and believe. Those in the Synagogue can't believe His remarkable gracious words yet they not only reject Jesus as the Messiah, but also reject His Gospel message. They are outraged that Jesus would say God overlooked His people for Gentile pagans and that they weren't righteous enough to earn God's favor. We are reminded that we are poor and needy sinners that humble themselves before Christ.
