Peter's Hypocrisy
Series: Galatians Topic: Hypocrisy Scripture: Galatians 2:11-21, Romans 3:24
None of us like confrontation but sometimes it becomes a necessity, particularly when it comes to defending the truth of the Gospel. Paul was defending the Gospel from the attack of Jews that incorporated the Gospel but added the works of the Mosaic Law. It no longer is the truth of the Gospel when someone adds or subtracts from salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Sadly, Peter himself out of fear of these people stopped his fellowship with the Gentile Christians which sent the wrong message. Paul confronted Peter publicly to call Peter and others out on their hypocrisy and their disservice to the Gospel. Paul then defends the Gospel of justification by faith in Christ alone.
