The Despised Savior

The most remarkable and clearest passage in the Old Testament on the sacrificial death of the Lord Jesus Christ is found in Isaiah 53.  We see the blessing of Christ's work on the cross, but we also see the rejection of Israel of the suffering Savior.  The report or message that continues to be rejected is that of not needing a Savior that would die for their sin, Jesus said "His own received Him not."  The Jews historically considered Jesus an inappropriate Messiah that He didn't fit their unbiblical criteria for what they thought the Messiah should be and so they despised and rejected Him.
