Paul and Barnabas were seeing many souls saved as they progressed through the Gentile cities. But, as they went there was obvious resistance both by the people and by the devil. In this chapter Paul and Barnabas fled for their lives from Iconium as they were under the hostility of being abused and stoned. They fled to the city of Lystra and were exalted as gods by the people after a miraculous healing of a crippled man. But, the devil trying to appeal to their selfishness failed as Paul and Barnabas refused such sinful accolades. Paul was stoned and thrown for dead but God miraculously healed him and Paul got up and persisted in his journey by preaching the Word and encouraging the saints.
