The final chapter of Ephesians will no doubt be just as edifying as the first 5. to keep in mind the current context. In chapter 6, we are still discussing being Spirit-filled! Commands like Servants/Slaves be Obedient to your earthly Masters, are impossible without the power of God.
Ephesians 6:5-9
5 Slaves, be obedient to those who are your earthly masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of heart, as to Christ;
6 not in the way of eye-service, as men-pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,
7 rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to men,
8 knowing that whatever good any one does, he will receive the same again from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free.
9 Masters, do the same to them, and forbear threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and that there is no partiality with him.

Husbands love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for it is possibly one of the hardest commands in scripture to attempt to undertake. But God gives the grace to help us if we rely upon Him. God’s provision of marriage is revealed in this passage as a picture of Christ and His body, the church. We encourage you to listen to the final sermon from Ephesians 5 as we explore how the family is to function in the 21st century.
