The Virgin Birth – Is it really necessary?

Presented December 11, 2011 by Pastor Eric Cuenin.

Is the virgin birth of Jesus Christ required? That is to say, can a person deny the virgin birth and still be saved from their sin? How about the Roman Catholic teaching of the perpetual virginity of Mary? Is there any scriptural basis for that?
Join Pastor Cuenin as he explores these and other questions in a study of Matthew 1.

Celebrating the Savior

Presented December 11, 2011 by Pastor Eric Cuenin.

We want to make much of Christ. Our goal is to magnify Christ! Join Pastor Cuenin as he looks at Matthew 1:18-25. This is a season of celebrations and you must not pick the wrong reasons to celebrate. Celebrations must be welcoming.

Does Matthew 1:18-25, seem celebratory? Probably not, Joseph is stressed out. Why?
Is he unaware of the truth of the Son of God coming from Glory to a virgin.
But this event was so supernatural would we have reacted differently?
What reasons had he to be upset? Another man, shaming & disgracing her in public; his own shame, and private divorce.

Even the world Refuses to Celebrate. Check it out: no “Merry Christmas,” fights over Nativity Scenes, nothing about Jesus or anything that smacks of Christ is allowed. This isn’t new, remember Herod?
Was the world all that welcoming? He was born of a humble birth. Today very few welcome Him in their home, or give Him much thought.

First, you must answer the question of Mt 22:42 (see Mt.1) Much like Joseph (vs.24-25) we must believe & obey.
God must catch a hold of your heart with the truth of Himself and His Gospel. There is no proper worship of Christ apart from being born-again.

Mary, Shepherds, and the Wise Men and what about you? More than being naughty or nice—It’s about the Savior!

Faithfulness – Part 2

Presented November 6, 2011 by Pastor Eric Cuenin.

In this series on faithfulness, Pastor Eric Cuenin begins by delving into God’s faithfulness. Here in part 2, God’s faithfulness is still considered! His faithfulness is so great!

God Is Faithful to His People

  • God’s love is unfailing Rm 8:35-39
  • Sometimes you and I do not love Him as we ought, but He never stops showing us love.
  • What would happen? Lam 3:22
  • He will never let you go Jn 10:28
  • He will keep you from falling Jude 24
  • He will not toss us away Jn 6:37

God Is Faithful to His Word

  • God’s Word is totally dependable because it is from a faithful God.
  • Since it is His Word, everything in it is absolute.
  • When you get in discussions and everyone is contrary (remember two things). Jesus Christ alone is our salvation and God’s Word is faithful.

God Is Faithful to All that He Says

  • What about science and cultural changes? Ill. Out of date? Creation
  • God is truth, John 17:3.
  • He cannot lie, Titus 1:2; Heb 6:18
  • God will faithfully discharge all that He has said small and great, 2Pet 3:9. Even Heaven & Hell Rev 21:4, 8

Faithfulness – Part 1

Presented October 30, 2011 by Pastor Eric Cuenin.

In this series on faithfulness, Pastor Eric Cuenin begins by delving into God’s faithfulness.

God Is Faithful in His Character

  • 1 Cor. 10:13 God is dependable, He is trustworthy in all ways.
  • Seen particularly in His relationship with His people Lam 3:22-25 His faithfulness is “great”.
  • Despite unfaithfulness from His people Ezek 16:59ff; 2 Tim. 2:13
  • Always keeps His promises Rev 19:11

God is Faithful in Trials

  • (1Cor 10:13)Are you struggling? Do you doubt God’s goodness? Do you wonder if He is there and then your faith wanes?
  • Accounts in Bible not to entertain, but to instruct—Noah in ark; Jonah in belly of fish; Daniel in lion’s den.
  • Who was always there?
  • How about your own testimony?

Faithful in our Weakness

  • 2 Cor 12:9, testimony of Paul
  • He is able – not you, it’s not about you or your strength or capability
  • Chorus He is Able
  • We talk of His power, His glory, His might, His grace, His majesty—How great is our God?!
  • He will give you grace for your need

Faithful to Provide an Escape

  • Will it all go away? Not usually, it’s a provision in time of need, an escape.
  • Frequently the escape is strength for the ordeal and not giving in to trial.
  • Sometimes the escape is from sin.
  • He supplies what needs? All, according to His riches in glory.

Faithful So You Will Endure It

  • You may not think so, but you are basing it on your ability and strength.
  • We are running a race and we are not called to throw in the towel.
  • It’s not too late to allow God to do what you can not do. Trust in the Lord with what? (all your heart)

Thanks for listening.
